Innovation
This month the topic that I want to focus on is “Innovation”. People and companies who want to develop and expand their capabilities drive innovation. They intentionally engage in creative problem solving and brainstorming to transform “what was” into new opportunities. Below are some tips for incorporating an innovative approach to your day-to-day work.
Outside the Box
Many demands put pressure on individuals and businesses to keep pace with an ever-changing business environment while growing their potential. Innovators not only ensure they are current; they purposefully do things differently to get new and better results. Innovation involves:
Expanded thinking: Be creatively flexible. Don’t get stuck in narrow mindedness such as always having to have the right answers, following logic or the rules, avoiding fun or ambiguity.
Leadership skills: New ideas, processes, products etc. take courage and confidence to put into action. Credible leaders walk their talk and engage others to lead in the creative process.
Collective wisdom: Seek out new ways of connecting people and information to help you tap into a broad base of experience, knowledge, and maintain an innovative culture.
Mobilization: Act fast to capture emerging opportunities. With simple processes and resources, individuals or companies be proactively responsive and adapt best-fit solutions for any challenge.
Innovative solutions and ideas emerge from thinking outside the box. Successful people and companies invest energy and effort in honing leadership skills to drive innovation. Leverage your network of collective wisdom to overcome limitations and to create an innovative environment. Take initiative to discover innovative new frontiers and improve competitive positioning in the marketplace.
